News

Dear fellow members and friends

This bulletin is a good deal earlier than usual because of the cancellation of the ride planned for Sunday 6th May.

In response to the last newsletter I received this very encouraging email from our old friend (and former Clarion CC National Treasurer), Peter Roscoe:

Simply Wonderful

Have you arrived in heaven and don’t know you are there?

Peter

I think that’s putting it a bit high, Peter, but as the old Joni Mitchell song has it, you often “don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone”. Let’s hope that’s not how we end up feeling about the NHS. But thanks, Peter and keep in touch.

I’ve had a few positive responses to my idea of avoiding the problems of coinciding with the London to Brighton BHF bike ride in June by moving to the Saturday just for that occasion so – subject to trains being OK – we’ll go ahead, which gives me the opportunity to get that Centurion Way/Dell Quay/Chichester Harbour/Chichester canal ride into the programme.

Joyce has been investigating the plans for improvements to the Lewes Road cycle lanes (consultation ends on 25 May). She has visited one of the exhibitions about it and had a useful consultation with one of the officials. She’ll be reporting soon. Still plenty of time to let her know what you think at edmondsmith@yahoo.co.uk

You can get details of the plans at www.brighton/hove.gov.ul/lewesroad and there are still two exhibitions/information sessions before the closing date:

Friday 11 May, 1–9, St Martins Church Hall (Wagner Hall), Lewes Road

Tuesday 15 May, 8–12, The Level (outside)
